Amazing Grace

From the media company that brought us “Chronicles of Narnia”, “Amazing Grace” opened in theaters across the country last week.  Archbishop Charles Chaput from the Archdiocese of Denver has a column recommending the film as an ideal source of personal reflection as we begin our own journey of Lent.

You can check out the full column at the Denver Catholic Register .

Brownback

As we get closer to the 2008 presidential race, I will have more posts related to candidates and their positions. I am far from an expert on politics in America but will do all I can to help everyone be informed on where the candidates stand. As Catholics, it is our responsibility to be an informed voter and to support moral leadership in this country.

The St. Petersburg Times has an excellent analysis on Sen. Sam Brownback and his positions. Currently listed as an underdog, Sen. Brownback has the experience and traits to lead this country and to bring the country together. Since being in the Senate, Mr. Brownback has worked on both sides to the aisle to bring about change.

The Lost Tomb of Jesus??

Film Producer James Cameron and the Discovery Channel are premiering a documentary on March 4th that claims to that the tomb belonging to Jesus Christ and other family members have been found. Among the experts associated with the project is Dr. James D. Tabor who has just recently published a book called the “The Jesus Dynasty” which includes several oft repeated claims; i.e Jesus had a child with Mary Magdalene and that Mary had other children.

You can check out the website with more details of the “discovery” here. As for me, I am not really interested in getting religious education from Hollywood or the Discovery channel.

Men of the Beatitudes

Here a website for all you men out there seeking to live a spirituality of honor that combines elements from medieval chivalry and contemporary Christian personalism.

Men of the Beatitudes commit themselves to do three things:

1)entrust themselves completely (body, mind, and spirit) to the Holy Trinity as Merciful Love, abiding in the Heart of Jesus and following a five-part code of life;

(2) they assume responsibility for personal growth and formation; and

(3) they join with other men in the Living Rosary and other means of earthly communion.
