  1. Sharp observes

A link in this comment leads to an article by AgapePress that contains some quotes from Randy Sharp, director of special projects for the Mississippi-based American Family Association. Mr. Sharp says “It’s becoming now more important for Wal-Mart to make money than to serve consumers.” Furthermore, he says that Walmart’s decision to sell ‘Brokeback Mountain’ clearly shows the store is willing “to do everything [they] can to make another dollar, regardless of how [their] customers feel.’
However one might feel about the movie, it must be quite clear that if Walmart does make a buck from selling it, then they are obviously giving their customers exactly what they do want. Mr. Sharp has apparently generalized his own feelings to apply to the entire population of Walmart shoppers, when in fact a lot of people who shop there do not have any problem with this movie.
