Are US tech companies aiding Chinese Oppression?

This article at CNN discusses how US tech companies are cooperating with the Chinese government in their effort to censor what their citizens have access to over the internet. Google’s basic stance is that giving China access to most of the Internet is better than giving them none at all.

My thoughts? I think that these companies are large enough players that they can stand up to this authoritarian regime. Even if the Chinese government won’t back down, they should refuse to go along with the censorship.
