Sprint Nextel helps homeless connect with loved ones!

Sprint Nextel is providing free phone banks at Project Homeless Connect events in San Francisco and Indianapolis.

San Francisco’s Mayor Gavin Newsom started Homeless Connect in 2004 to bring together multiple services under one roof to help people who often don’t take advantage of services because they can’t reach them. Since that time, the program has spread to over 15 other cities across the country.

According to Mayor Newsom, “Project Homeless Connect is breaking the myth that people do not seek assistance and services and would simply prefer to be on the street. The data proves that when people are approached in a respectful and kind manner, and with available resources, they are eager to accept help towards self-sufficiency. National outreach professionals agree that it takes multiple contacts to build trust towards accepting assistance. The goal of this effort is to do just that.”

Visit the Project Homeless Connect website to learn more about the project and to see who else besides Sprint is supporting this effort.

The Boycott List

Life Decisions International (LDI) has released a revised edition of The Boycott List that identifies corporations that are boycott targets due to their support of Planned Parenthood, the world’s primary abortion-advocacy group.

Scheduled to appear on the list for the first time are:

Altria (Phillip Morris, Nabisco, and Kraft products, Post cereals, etc.)
Circuit City (retail electronics outlet)
Cost Plus World Market (retail stores)
Price Chopper/Mini Chopper (supermarkets/ convenience stores)
New World Restaurant Group (Chesapeake Bagel Bakery, Einstein Bros Bagels, Manhat-tan Bagel, etc.)
Nike (apparel/footwear, etc.)
Tommy Hilfiger (apparel, etc.)

There are a lot of websites that post list of abortion supporters. I like Life Decisions International because of the research that they do to verify the information. Only corporations that have been investigated and given “due process” are added to the list.” Visit the LDI website to order the complete list.

NBC…and The Book of Daniel

NBC plans on starting 2006 out with a new series called the Book of Daniel. NBC claims that this is a positive portrayal of Christ and Christians. The series is about an Episcopal priest with a nagging addiction to prescription painkillers. As luck would have it, this priest also has a drug-dealing daughter and two sons, one homosexual and the other promiscuous. And we can’t forget his wife with her fondness for mid-day martinis.

According to the American Family Association, NBC has already received over 400,000 complaints via email. I guess they wouldn’t mind a few more.

Did Ford back down to the pressure from gay activists?

Ford representatives met with leaders of several gay rights activist groups on December 12th and immediately issued a letter stating backing away from an earlier agreement with the American Family Association. While not agreeing to force Jaguar and Land Rover to advertise in gay publications, the company did agree to run corporate advertising in these publications that would include all Ford brands. Read Ford’s statement here.

CFC urges all readers to contact Ford and asks that they honor the original agreement to pull advertising from these gay lifestyle publications and to stand up to the pressure from the gay community.

Launch of Catholic Family Campaign

Welcome to my blog. As a father and a Catholic, I feel that it is important to truly live my beliefs and to encourage the practice of the principles of Social Justice of the Catholic faith. To that end, I intend to research behavior and practices of multi-national corporations. My hope is that by posting these examples, we can have a positive impact on restoring traditional family values to the marketplace.

CFC seeks to highlight the actions of corporations on a wide array of topics affecting traditional family values, including workplace, family, and health issues. Our mission is to educate corporate organizations in the importance of traditional values and communicate that we intend to support those organizations that exhibit these values in the marketplace.
